 FAQ

1. Why should I study in Canada?

Canada is a country where the general quality of life is one of the highest in the world. It is a clean country with low crime rate, an excellent health system, and a world class education system. More so, the cost of education in Canada is not as high as other neighboring countries such as the US. Canada also offers more than the traditional degree programs. You can study there to learn French or English as a second language.

2. As a foreigner, wouldn’t I feel left out in Canada?

Canada has had a long tradition of opening its arms to people from other countries, no matter what race they may be. Students, refugees, and immigrants alike have all experienced the hospitality of the Canadian people. As such, you do not have to worry about not feeling welcome when you come to study in Canada. In addition to that, if you wish to establish contact with people from your ethnic group, the chances are that there will be well-established communities in the major cities which can help you get settled in.

3. Where can I stay if I study in Canada?

Most universities and some colleges have dormitories wherein you can stay as a student. You can also opt for a host family who can accommodate you. Other alternatives would be boarding houses or flats outside of campus.

4. Do I need some sort of permit to study in Canada?

You need Student Authorization (also called Student Visa) to be able to study in Canada. This should be obtained before you leave for Canada – a student visa cannot be obtained in Canada. However, if you are only staying for less than 3 months (say on a language study program), you will not need a Student Authorization. You still need to inquire at the nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate, though, as you may need some other permit to enter Canada.
